Music is a Life Thing

The Treasure Coast Youth Symphony

Treasure Coast Youth Symphony changed my life. It opened up a whole new world. I found myself in the presence of amazing mentors and in friendships I still hold today.”
- Audrey Franklin

Auditions are open to all intermediate and advanced players including middle school, high school, and college grade levels.

Audition Requirements

For specific requirements for audition preparation, please review the section below then visit the links for more detailed information. Be sure to review the correct materials for your instrument and school grade.  If you feel you are able to audition successfully with the higher level of materials, you may do so.

Grades 7 and 8 must audition with the appropriate instrument using the 9th - 10th “All State” materials listed within the section below.

Strings

  • NEWLY ADDED: TCYS AUDITION EXCERPTS

The music below is from music we are playing this coming fall season. All excerpts are relevant, but you could attempt to get 3 to 4 of these in very good performance shape, and hopefully be allowed to choose these for audition materials.

An Important Note on Audition Requirements

The requirements are not meant to discourage auditions but to provide a basis of comparison for a variety of levels of play, which do not always run concurrently with age or grade level in school. If you are invited to become a member of the Treasure Coast Youth Symphony after audition, your audition performance may be used for orchestra seating purposes. Auditions are open to all advanced players including middle school, high school, and college grade levels.
